The Hibernia Southern Extension (or HSE), is a subsea development with tiebacks to the Hibernia platform. The project includes eight platform drilled production wells and up to nine active water injection subsea wells. These were the first subsea wells for Hibernia and transformed the development of this world-class resource. The HSE is operated by ExxonMobil Canada; HMDC provides services.
The project includes:
- Eight production wells drilled from existing Hibernia gravity-based structure (GBS)
- Up to nine active subsea water injection wells for pressure support drilled by mobile offshore drilling unit
- One 10-metre deep excavated drill centre 7 km southeast of GBS
- Subsea tie-back to Hibernia GBS
- Topsides subsea control tie-ins
- Dual subsea water injection manifold
